How your Basket (shopping cart) Works

Isn’t it amazing that you can put items in your Basket, leave ConnectingThreads.com, then come back a few days later and the items are still in your Basket?

We can “remember” your Basket via cookies. When you place an item in your Basket, we place a small file on your hard drive (called a cookie) to remember what you have placed in your Basket.

This method works wonderfully if you always browse our site from the same computer. But, many people surf not just from home, but also from work, school, or the library. If you started shopping from home, but then surfed our site from work, you will notice that the items you put in your Basket at home don’t show up when you are at work. This is because all of that Basket information is stored on the hard drive of your computer at home.

To make your Basket “mobile”
Be sure to log in to ConnectingThreads.com on both computers. If you place some items in your Basket from home, then log in (or log in and then shop), we will attach the contents of your Basket to your user record (this record contains all the information you entered when you registered with us - name, address, etc.) Then, when you are browsing our site from a different computer, just log in and the items in your “saved” Basket will be instantly available.

It doesn’t matter at what point you log in to our Web site. You can add things to your Basket, log in, and we will then save the contents of your Basket. As you make changes to your Basket (by adding, modifying quantities, or deleting items) we will automatically save the changes to your customer record information. The same holds true if you come back to our site from another computer. You can start shopping, then log in. Once you log in, we can add the items you just added to Basket to the “saved” Basket you had from the other computer.

Remember, unless you log in to our site, our computers don’t know who you are, and won’t be able to attach the contents of your Basket to your customer record.

What happens if I use more than one computer to shop, but I don’t log in?
Items that you place in your Basket or Save for Later will remain on the hard drives of the computers that you use. For example, let’s say you start shopping from your computer at home, but do not log in. You then go to the library, and continue browsing ConnectingThreads.com from there. You will not be able to access the Basket or Save for Later you created at home, because you did not log in at home. If you log in to our site while you are at the library, and then go back home and log in to our site again, we will combine your “home” Basket and Save for Later with your “library” Basket and Save for Later.

Think of logging into ConnectingThreads.com in the same way that you save files on a CD-ROM. If you want to use a file on different computers, you save it on a CD-ROM to take with you. When you log into ConnectingThreads.com, we save your Basket and Save for Later for you, so that you can access them anywhere you go!

Gift certificates are a wonderful way to introduce your friends to shopping at Connecting Threads. Gift certificates can be used for products from our catalog or our Web site. You may use your certificate to place an order by telephone, fax or mail. (You’ll be able to use your gift certificates on the Web in the future.)

How to purchase a Gift Certificate

To order a gift certificate, please call 1-800-574-6454, Monday through Friday 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM PT or Saturday 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM PT. You can pay with your credit card. We will notify the lucky recipient of your thoughtful gift via conventional mail. You can fax your request for a Gift Certificate and include your credit card number, expiration date and signature to (360) 260-8877.

How to use a Gift Certificate:

If you wish to gather your order on the web, simply load your Basket (cart), print it out and call us with your gift certificate number, fax the order with your gift certificate number, or mail your order with your gift certificate. You may also use your gift certificate with the order form from our printed catalog.

After entering your email address and password, you will be taken to the checkout page. This screen will allow you to review your name and address data, your product purchases and to submit payment via credit card.

To edit your personal information including the ship to address, click on the “Edit My Account Information” link. After you modify this information click on the “Update” button.

If you want to modify your Basket (cart) by changing the item quantity then click on the button to the right (Update) or click on the “X” button in the “Remove” column for items you wish to delete altogether. If you want to wait and purchase the item at another time click the “Save For Later?” button. If you wish to add additional items to your Basket (cart), then use the product navigation links at the top of the page. This section also allows you to change the Shipping Method to Rush, if applicable. Your particular combination of shipping address and items in the cart may not allow this option (for example, postal regulations prohibit shipping aerosol items by air or outside the continental U.S.). See “Shipping Information” in the Customer Service Section for more detailed information about our Rush Shipping method, standard delivery, and Canada shipments.

After you have reviewed your personal information, product purchases and the total of your bill, you will be asked to pay for the merchandise with your credit card. Please specify the type of card you are using, the credit card number, the expiration date and the security code number on the back of the card.

After filling in this data click on the “Place Order” button. After you have clicked on this button your order will be transmitted to us electronically. You will receive an order confirmation via e-mail, usually within 1 hour. The notice will contain your order number and your customer number, which you will need if you have questions regarding your order. If you have any additional questions please call our Customer Service Center at the number below. To continue surfing our website, just click on one of the navigation links on the toolbar at the top of the page.

What forms of payment do we accept?

All of our transactions are in U.S. Dollars. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express as credit cards. In addition our U.S. residents can mail us a check or money order. Please note there is a $15 service charge for personal checks returned for NSF. Sorry, no C.O.D. or purchase orders.

 Reasons for registering:

• You are able to check the status of your order. 
• You can track your order while it is enroute. 
• View your order history for up to 90 days. 
• Once registered you will be able to use a one-step checkout process.

On our registration form, we will only ask you for information necessary to complete
your customer profile: your shipping address, billing address, your preferred privacy
settings, and how you heard about us. To ensure that your information remains secure,
we will also ask you for a Email Address and Password.

When you choose to Checkout, you will be taken to a page where you can either Login
or Register with ConnectingThreads.com. Registration will take only a few minutes.

1. Enter your Email address. Your Email Address will be case-insensitive (i.e.,
   don’t worry about capitalization).
2. Set your password. Your password should be between 6-12 characters, and can
   contain letters and/or numbers. Other characters, like punctuation marks, spaces,
   underscores, etc. are not allowed. Your Password will be case-sensitive (i.e.,
   make a note of the capitalization you use).
3. Fill out your customer information, being sure to fill in the fields asking for your
   country, name, complete mailing address, and daytime phone number. If the Shipping
   address is different from your Billing address, click the appropriate area (just above
   and to the right of the field to enter your Billing information), and then fill in
   the same set of information for the Shipping address.

The last two areas of the Registration form, ‘Privacy’ and ‘How Did you Hear about
Us?’ are straightforward. This is your chance to let us know whether you’d like to
receive further correspondence (via e-mail) from us or other quality crafting retailers.

After filling out this form, you will be automatically “logged in” and taken to a
page where you can complete your purchase.

You may edit any of this information at any time, by simply choosing to Edit My Customer
Information when viewing your Basket (cart) or when in Checkout.

You may print out your Basket (cart) at any time. Just go to Check out, enter
your Email Address and Password, and you will be taken to the Checkout page. Just
below the title Check out is a link to a page with a printer-friendly copy of your
Basket (cart) and Customer Information.

If you choose one of the payment options listed below, do not enter your credit card
data on the Checkout page (the only page where you can complete your order online).
Simply follow the instructions below for the option that fits your needs.

Credit card over the phone

If you prefer, you may call us toll free, Monday through Friday 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM
PT or Saturday 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM PT, at (800) 574-6454 to place an order with your
credit card.

Mail your order

If you prefer to mail your order to us with a check or money order (U.S. Residents
only) or credit card data enclosed, you may print the entire order from the checkout
page (or the printer-friendly version) and mail it to Connecting Threads, PO Box 870760, Vancouver
WA 98687-7760.

Please Note: If you choose to mail your order, payment must be enclosed or your items
cannot be shipped.
