Machine Applique - Satin Stitch

by Karen Johnson

This segment is focused on how to finish raw edges with a satin stitch, or a zig zag stitch.

Why Satin Stitch Appliqué? We use this form of appliqué on nearly all of the appliquéd quilts in our catalog because it's fast, but gives a beautiful clean finish. The only thing you need on your machine is an adjustable zig zag stitch. To learn how to prep your work before stitching, check out my segment on Fused Edge Appliqué.

Thread? Needle size? This is another stitch that is not at all fussy. You could use any embellishment thread, like rayon, but we used Essential Thread and a standard sized sewing machine needle.
