We are graced with another lovely book about Civil War women. In addition, 50 quilt blocks are included to create a sampler quilt. The blocks were chosen for their symbolic names and relationship to the war. Most were published in newspapers in the 1930s.
Each block is accompanied with historical information as it pertains to the period. Directions to make a block, two color ways, and a solid rendering of each block are provided. The color ways are shown in delicious fabrics and I most certainly would use them too if I had them!
The history lesson certainly drew me to this book as I collect quilt books with historical information. I love to know all about the background of quilting! It's just so interesting! Such a wonderful heritage we have behind us and there is much more to come!
