Crazy 'Til the Cows Come Home
Techniques: piecing and applique
Sorry, this item is currently not available for purchase.
If you’ve never made one of the quilts from The Buggy Barn, hang onto your hat, and let the craziness begin. Their method is a little different than other designers, but the results are wonderful, and pretty much fail-proof!
You’ll stack up to 16 fat quarters, trace the pattern onto freezer paper and iron that onto the top of the stack. Then you cut on the lines while reciting the alphabet and counting backwards (remember crazy), and then shuffle the stacks putting the top fabric on the bottom of the stack. Then, when you have stacks that correspond with the number of blocks in the quilt, you begin sewing the blocks together (now you get to recite the alphabet and count frontwards). You’ll straighten the seams as you go along, and before you know it, the blocks will be finished! The directions in the book are very good, and go step by step, and because the blocks are a little wonky to begin with, small errors will not be glaring.
I will be making the “Hearts Come Home” quilt – it pairs a funky heart, houses, and seasonal appliques. We’ll see how that goes, and then I may try “Seasons” and/or “Quilters Village” after that!
