Cute Quilts for Kids by Kristen Roylance is a delightful collection of quilts with bright colors, simple piecing, and a little embroidery and appliqué for added charm and visual interest. I especially like the fun textural elements provided by ruffles, chenille, rickrack, tulle, prairie points, and dimensional appliqué incorporated into the quilts. These added touches really set the quilts apart from run-of-the-mill children’s quilt designs. The quilts that drew me to Cute Quilts for Kids are Ladybug Landing, featuring simple fusible appliqué ladybugs and flowers with gathered petals and Yo-Yo centers, and Butterfly Kisses, with adorable dimensional butterflies.
