In Hand Quilted with Love, Sarah Fielke shares her passion for quilting, love of color, personal inspirations, and her expertise as a quilting teacher, author, and designer. The result is a delightful well-written book with helpful instructions and lovely illustrations. All sixteen designs are colorful and very scrappy. As she says, why use one or two greens when you can use thirty! The quilt patterns vary in difficulty from easy, for beginners and gift-giving, to more advanced for an added challenge. The author provides information for making each quilt in other sizes. The quilt examples are either machine quilted or hand quilted with a large utility stitch in #8 Perle cotton. I really enjoyed reading the text, admiring the creative designs, and finding inspiration for using up my stash. Plus, I learned a new trick for using aluminum foil for preparing pieces for hand-applique!
