I love miniature quilts but piecing all those tiny scraps of fabric can be intimidating. Not with Little Gems 15 Paper-Pieced Miniature Quilts by Connie Kauffman. Paper piecing is an easy and precise way to work with all the tiny scraps used in these projects. If you haven’t tried paper piecing, a small project like one of these would be a great way to learn a new technique. The author gives very clear instructions on how to paper piece, on picking fabric for small projects, and tools needed.

There are 15 mini quilt projects in this book. Fourteen of the projects are 12" square, one is 14" square. All of the projects use 1” to 4” scraps of fabric. Borders are 1” to 2” wide and no longer than 12 ½ “. A fat quarter can be used for the back of the quilt. Four of the projects have instructions for enlarging to table runner or lap quilt sizes. Her examples are shown in a wide range of fabrics; batiks, brights, plaids, and neutrals. I am going to make a quilt for every season. These fit perfectly and look great displayed on the Wire Table Stand we carry with interchangeable headers by Ackfeld. I just love paper-piecing and can’t wait to get started.
