Initially I was attracted to this book mainly because of all of the bright and happy colors (they're a weakness of mine). As I read through the book, I had so many "a-ha!" moments and discovered so many new techniques and methods to try without feeling intimidated by an obvious need of advanced skill. The idea of breaking free of the rules and just letting your creativity fly, makes the ideas and patterns seem very doable. Not worrying so much about matching points and cutting with extreme precision, but focusing more on the beautiful end result is something that is right up my alley. I've been wanting to tackle a chevron quilt at some point, but was turned off by what seemed like difficult patterns. However, Lucie Summers has put together a tutorial that seems like it was designed just for me! Quick, easy, and no matchy-matchy necessary. I can't wait to get started!
