The Bible Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird is an amazing book with ninety-six classic quilt blocks arranged in a lovely sampler quilt, part of which can be seen on the book’s cover. There are several features which make this quilt book unique. In the first half, a photo of each block, shown in beautiful traditional fabrics, is paired with an accompanying Bible verse. The second half provides illustrations and instructions for constructing each of the 6” finished blocks. The selection of blocks combines readily recognized blocks with many less common blocks from the past to make a truly diverse and visually interesting sampler quilt.
A special feature of The Bible Sampler Quilt book is the CD which enables quilters to construct each block using the method of their choice. In addition to full-size diagrams for each block there are templates for the ninety-six blocks, rotary cutting measurements for templates so they can be cut with a rotary cutter and ruler, and paper-piecing patterns for those who choose that technique. When it comes time to assemble the sampler quilt, assembly diagrams are included for quilts in sizes lap, twin, queen, and king.
