I also loved Pam and Nicky’s first book, Jelly Roll Quilts, and I have reviewed that one also!  That book was so popular, that we sold out before the catalog was in homes, and we couldn’t order more because the publisher was sold out!  But don’t worry, I asked the buyer to double check the availability of Layer Cake, Jelly Roll, and Charm Quilts, so we shouldn’t run out this time!

This book expands upon Pam and Nicky’s first subject, Jelly Rolls, and adds Layer Cakes and Charms too.  Although this mother daughter team is from the UK, all the measurements are in inches, so you don’t need to convert!

As with their first book, the Lintotts have got some really original looking designs.  I get tired off seeing the same designs for precuts, sometimes it seems like the only thing that changes is the fabrics.  Looking through this book was a breath of fresh air.  Each new project had me oohing and ahhing!

There are some really intricate looking quilts such as Raspberry Ripple, Jitterbug, and Stormy Weather.  There are also simpler but interesting quilts such as Times Square, Hexagon Hip Hop, and Twisting the Night Away.

I’ve wanted to make a quilt with houses on it, but I’m a little intimidated by paper piecing and don’t have any good stitches on my sewing machine for appliqué.  When I ran across the Little Houses pattern in this book I decided this is the pattern for me!  The house blocks are small only 4-1/2” square, but once those are done, the rest of the piecing is a breeze!

The other project that really caught my attention is the English Country Garden Pillow.  We’ve been on a big English Paper Piecing kick around the office, so this caught my eye.  I’m definitely planning to work on this pillow at sew night, it’s a great way to use up my leftover charm squares!
