A baby quilt based on the old-time crazy quilt block with the addition of hearts, or for a more boyish version, applique happy faces, baseballs, stars, or whatever theme suits you, along with the coordinate fabrics. An area at the bottom border allows for personalization with an embroidered name, date, or even a phrase, "You're a Star," for instance. This pattern is fat quarter friendly and can easily be enlarged by adding blocks and rows, a perfect starter project for those with just a little experience.
