The moment I saw the cover of Quilts of Iceland, I knew I had to get a copy! I am a super fan of simple and chic quilts and Gudrun Erla used all of my favorite colors and styles in this collection inspired by her Icelandic heritage. The Aurora quilt is featured on the front cover and happens to be a favorite of mine, using different patterns and variations of the same color palette to mimic the Aurora Borealis. Her instructions are clear and include color coded images to help keep track of what fabrics you’re using, and as a bonus to each quilt, Gudrun remarks on how the style of each pattern relates to not only her history, but the history of Iceland. I love her color choices and designs, they seem simple enough to customize and make my own if I wanted to change it up and relate it more to me. I would highly recommend snagging a copy of your own to explore Iceland through quilting!
