Techniques: general sewing, piecing
Sew Home by Erin Schlosser is a terrific resource for making over thirty home décor projects. I chose this book because I thought it would be perfect for my daughter who is in her mid-20s and wanting to add personal touches to her living space. The book's contents discuss principles and elements of design and fabrics and provide clever DIY ideas for soft furnishings for the home. There are step-by-step instructions and photos for curtains, pillows, cushions, and bed and table linens. For the bathroom, there are customized bath and hand towels, a shower curtain, and bath mat. For outdoors, there is a picnic blanket, waterproof patio art, sheer patio drapes, and hammock cushions. The author also throws in directions for making a rug, art clock, and pendant light shade. The colors are bright, the fabrics modern, and the ideas inspiring! For myself, I plan to make the It’s a Twist Table Runner for our newly redecorated bedroom.
