If you are like me and end up in need of sewing something up that is cute but QUICK because you really don’t have as much time to make it as you thought - then you probably also use precuts often! That’s what first caught my eye with this book – 'strip' was in the title. What also caught my eye was that it was a book from Gudrun Erla – I’ve loved her previous strip patterns and quilt-as-you-go books.
As I started flipping through the pages, I appreciated her intro pages where she talks about everything from collecting and storing, prepping, choosing backgrounds, to various kinds of “scrappy” looks you can achieve. She breaks the book into the various “scrappy” sections she talks about – Controlled Colorway, Distinct Blocks, and Scrap Crazies. She’s not only informative but very fun too! Her instructions are clear and thorough and she provides size charts so that each of the quilts is easily sewn up into two to five different sizes. This book will appeal to traditional and modern quilters plus anyone in between.
