This block of the month design features 12 unique blocks all created with the Super Sidekick and Hex N More rulers. And, even better, there are no pesky Y seams! Each month you'll create two blocks from the same design. Creative fabric placement will make your quilt appear to have 24 different blocks. Sweet Tooth by Jaybird Quilts provides great step-by-step instructions and illustrations for a block of the month quilt with strong graphic appeal. The blocks in the sample on the cover, made with solids on a black background, are constructed using the Hex N More Ruler (which I have) and the Super Sidekick Ruler (which I want) – although templates are provided to use instead of the rulers if desired. The author shows how to cut diamonds, triangles, half-triangles, hexagons, half hexagons, and jewels. The intricate geometric blocks, made of various shaped units, can be pieced by hand or machine. The goal is to make two each of the twelve blocks – matching in construction but different in color placement. The design is well-suited to 2-1/2” pre-cut strips. An assortment of inexpensive Quilter’s Candy Basics 2-1/2” strips would work well for this quilt… time for me to order!
