When I picked up The Joy of Jelly Rolls I knew I was in for a treat. This book is thick! 240 pages chock full of ideas with tons of luscious photos of each project. Collected in its pages are three previously published books from British designer Carolyn Forster on the subject of sewing with strip sampler sets (aka, Jelly Rolls).  I love sampler sets for their help in easily coordinating projects without breaking the bank, and after reading this book I especially love the versatility of strip sets. With a few strip sampler sets on hand in my stash I’ll always be able to whip up some super quick, super fun, and well coordinated gifts for friends and family.  The diversity of projects from small housewares to large quilts keeps things interesting too. I’ve already put sticky notes to mark pages of projects I want to sew sooner rather than later, like the Japanese Bag, the Hot Water Bottle Cover, and the ZigZag Diamonds mini quilt. I’ve already sewn up a Hexagon Pillow in an evening with plans for making a few more. Super fun, easy, and really cute too!   There are also many projects specifically designed to use up little strip scraps left over from other projects, which makes me love the book even more. So if you need ideas for quick holiday gifts or just like having quick projects to do in the evenings, this book has you covered!
