My first impression when I saw the Ultimate Quilt Block Collection was how much I loved the modern feel to the book. There are over 60 block designs, quite a few with foundation paper piecing templates. In each section she shows the block design in the traditional way and then remixed for a whole new look. At the end of each section there is a quilt layout using the blocks. I love the way she combines the prints in the blocks and her use of a white background. All fabric requirements and finished sizes are given for each block. She has a section on the basics of simple piecing, squaring up fabric, using a rotary cutter, making a quilt sandwich, etc. I love bright, bold, modern prints and can't wait to get started.
