This new book by Deborah Moebes is an excellent reference book for any quilter’s library. It includes well-written and well-illustrated instructions for patchwork, home décor, bags, clothing, and sewing for children with accompanying skill-building projects for each topic. Section One covers basic supplies, general sewing, and techniques such gathering, adding zippers, ribbon-work, tufting, photo transfer,  and sashiko, each with simple projects for practice.

My favorite, as a quilter, was Section Two, which provides quilting instructions for an attractive beginner quilt, sewing machine cover, tea cozy, cup cozy, mug rugs, whole cloth quilt, and an improvisational landscape wall quilt with simple curved piecing. I also was inspired by many of the projects in the sections on bags, home decor, sewing for children, and making clothes. This is a terrific reference book for DIY enthusiasts and all sewists and quilters, whether beginners or experienced, wanting to branch out into other areas of sewing projects. It even has lots of ideas for gifts!
