Fat Quarters

A fat quarter bundle is a sampler containing 18" X 21" cuts of fabric. While a standard quarter yard cut of fabric is cut from selvedge to selvedge, giving you a piece that's 9" X WOF, fat quarters are cut widthwise from a half yard of fabric. This shape gives you the option to make larger cuts that you couldn't make from a regular quarter-yard cut.

2.5" Strips

Also commonly referred to as Jelly Rolls, strip rolls are 2.5" wide by the width of fabric. Strips are certainly ideal for borders and binding, but dont let that fool you. They can also be used for making everything from table runners to bed quilts. Strip-friendly patterns tend to be simple and fast to complete, so we always like to have an assortment of strip rolls in our stash for when we need to whip up a project in a hurry!

Pro tip: We always keep a couple of solid black and solid white strip rolls in our stash for extra-easy sashing.

10" Squares

Also commonly referred to as Layer Cakes, these handy 10" squares are great for quickly sewing up a patchwork quilt top. We happen to think 10" squares are the most versatile precut out there, perfect for sewing into half- or quarter-square triangles. You can even cut them into 5" squares if you have a pattern that calls for multiple charm packs.

5" Charm Packs

A charm pack is a collection of 5" squares. We love charm packs because you can open them up and jump right into sewing. They're ideal for nearly any project, and charm pack-friendly patterns are abundantly available.

Pro tip: When we know we love a collection but aren't quite sure what we want to make out of it yet, we always pick up a charm pack (or three!)

Mini Charm Packs

At 2.5" square, mini charms are as cute as can be! Mini charms are great for small projects like table runners, and mini quilts, but they're also perfect for Irish chain quilts and sashing cornerstones. Scrappy quilt lovers rejoice, this is the perfect precut for you!

Pro tip: Keep a few yards each of your favorite neutral solids or blenders in your stash. That way you'll almost always have something to coordinate with your precut of choice when inspiration strikes. We like to have at least 2-3 yards each of white, ivory, cream, navy, and black - no matter which collection you choose, it will almost always coordinate with one of these basics!
