Warning: This book might cause you to go speechless. Mainly because there is so much good about this book, it is hard to collect your thought into anything comprehensive. So, let’s start with the sheer number of blocks, you read the title correctly…1,000 blocks, from many different designers. There is a little something for everyone in this book, from traditional to funky, and whimsical. The book is broken down into 4 basic sections: Applique, Foundation Pieced, Mixed Technique, and Pieced. Quiltmaker conveniently added a CD for all the patterns that use applique, embroidery, and foundation piecing. So you don’t have to try to track or keep a lot of papers organized. Can anyone say helpful? Each block is 12” finished, so they can go together to make a wonderfully unique sampler. In the back of the book, there are layout suggestions and directions for all different size quilts and styles. Anything that helps cut down on time doing quilt math is good by me. Wish me luck trying to decide which block to make first.
