Blanket Stitch - hand
by Karen Johnson
Why the Blanket Stitch by hand? This is an age old traditional stitch and very portable. It works best on an edge that's been turned under, but you could also do it on a fused edge. To see which prep method you'd prefer, check out my Introduction to Appliqué and all of the prep methods that follow that segment.
Here is Judy, our in house blanket stitch expert, demonstrating the stitch by hand.
Thread? Needle size? Judy used 2 strands of DMC embroidery floss on the flower, and one strand on the leaf. Perle cotton, size 12 will also work well. You can use any needle that will accomodate your floss, but we used an embroidery needle.
